There are two processes for a divorce. The first is an uncontested divorce. The second is a contested divorce. In an uncontested divorce the parties have an agreement to resolve the terms of their divorce or, the party served with the Petition does not timely respond. If the parties proceed via an uncontested divorce, it is possible that the parties can be divorced within 60 days from the date of service. With a contested divorce, this means that the parties do not have agreements and are going to have to either mediate and/or attend a trial in order to get divorced. A divorce in Maricopa County can take anywhere between 12 and 18 months to be finalized. A divorce in Pinal County can take anywhere between nine and 12 months.
